How you Can Open a Zero-Balance Savings Account in the State Bank of India From Home.

I will show you the entire process live—how to open the account,
what details you need to enter, the PAN card number, Aadhaar card number—
everything will be shown step by step.
After that, at the end of the video,
we will also see the complete process of Video KYC.
About a week after opening the account,
the complete welcome kit from SBI is sent to your home.
So I will explain the entire account-opening process step by step.
But before that, the most important thing is that
if we want to open a zero-balance savings account in a bank,
we should first know the features of that account.
We should know which type of bank account we are going to open.
So let’s look at the features one by one.
Now see, the first thing is that if your age is 18 years or above,

1. you can open two types of zero-balance savings accounts in the State Bank of India.

Among these two accounts, one is called the SBI Insta Plus Savings Account,
and this is the account we need to open.
Why?
Because the good thing about this account is that we can open it online from home.
There is no need to visit a bank branch.
I will enter all the details online, everything will be completed online,
the Video KYC will also be done online,
and the welcome kit will be delivered to your home.
That means there is no need to visit the branch at all.
So remember the name of this account: SBI Insta Plus Savings Account.
The second account that people aged 18 years or above can open
is called the SBI Digital Savings Account.
This is also a zero-balance savings account.
The Insta Plus account is also zero-balance,
and the Digital account is also zero-balance.
However, for the Digital Savings Account, you need to visit the bank branch;
the entire account cannot be opened completely from home.
Since we want to avoid going to the branch—when everything can be done from home—
why should we go to the branch?
Therefore, we will open the Insta Plus Savings Account.
One more thing:

2. if someone is under 18 years of age, then they can open a minor account.

The Insta Plus Savings Account that I mentioned
can only be opened by people who are not minors,
meaning those who are 18 years or older.
Only they can open the account online from home.
If someone is under 18, they cannot open the account online from home.
But that doesn’t mean people under 18 cannot open an account.
If you are under 18 and want to open a zero-balance savings account in SBI,
then first you will have to visit the branch.
SBI offers two types of accounts for minors: the first is called Pehla Kadam,
and the second is called Pehli Udaan.
Remember one thing: this Pehla Kadam account can be opened by anyone
whose age is from 1 day up to 18 years.
However, this account is opened in the presence of the parents.

3. That means when the account is opened, the parents will sign the documents.

In the future, if a cheque book needs to be issued or any transaction has to be done,
the signatures on the cheque book will also be those of the parents.
The minor’s name will simply appear there,
indicating that the account belongs to that minor.
But the signatures—
both at the time of account opening and for transactions—will be those of the parents.
The second account is called Pehli Udaan.
This account can be opened by children whose age is between 10 and 18 years.
The good thing about this account is that parents’ signatures, Aadhaar card,
PAN card, and photographs are required only at the time of opening the account.
Once the account has been opened, if later a cheque needs to be signed,
the child can sign in their own name, and the cheque will be processed.
So, the guardian or parents are required only at the time of account opening.
So you can decide accordingly—these accounts are meant for children.
However, to open either of these accounts, you have to visit the bank branch.
This Insta Plus Savings Account that we are talking about—
now in this video, we will look at its main features.
The Insta Plus account can be opened online from home,

4. and it is a zero-balance savings account.

Let’s go through some of its features.
After opening the account, the debit card you will receive
is called the RuPay Classic Debit Card.
The annual fee for this debit card is ₹200 plus 18% GST, which comes to ₹236.
The issue fee is zero,
but from the next year onward you will have to pay ₹236 annually.
For example, if you open the account today,
when the debit card is delivered to your home, you won’t have to pay any joining fee.
After one year, you will have to pay ₹236 every year.
Now suppose that after opening this account,
you go to an SBI branch and want to deposit cash there.
Regarding cash deposit charges, SBI says that
three transactions per month are free, regardless of the amount.
After that, each transaction costs ₹50 plus 18% GST, which is ₹9,
making the total ₹59 per transaction.
And let me tell you, this is one good thing about government banks.
Because if this were a private bank,
they might say that cash deposits up to ₹1 lakh per month are free,
but after that they may charge ₹5 for every ₹1000 deposited.
Suppose you need to deposit ₹2 lakh in a month—I’m talking about private banks.
They usually say that up to ₹1 lakh is free,
but for the next ₹1 lakh you may have to pay ₹500.
Similarly, if you deposit ₹10 lakh extra, you may have to pay ₹5,000,
and if you deposit ₹1 crore, the extra charges could go up to ₹50,000.
However, SBI says that three transactions per month are free.
Even if you deposit ₹1 crore, the first three transactions are free.
After that, if you make a fourth transaction, even if you deposit ₹1 crore again,
there’s no problem—you only have to pay ₹59 per transaction.
Now, many shopkeepers or business owners deal with cash transactions daily.

5. Cash accumulates during the day and then needs to be deposited in the bank branch.

For such people, it’s better not to open an account in private banks for this purpose.
First of all, for business you should ideally open a current account.
But many people still continue transactions through a savings account,
and in that case SBI is better,
because the cash deposit and withdrawal charges are very minimal.
Still, the first rule for business is to always open a current account
rather than using a savings account.
Now talking about cash withdrawal, SBI says that from your home branch—
the branch where your account is opened—
(When we open the account online, I will also show you how to select the home branch),
you can withdraw unlimited cash without any issue.
But if you go to another branch that is not your home branch
and request a cash withdrawal there,
then you can withdraw a maximum of ₹25,000 per day.
Now regarding the cheque book,
when you receive the welcome kit after opening the account,
it contains only the debit card.
It does not include a cheque book or passbook.
If you need a cheque book,
you can apply for it online or request it by visiting the branch.
If you want a passbook,
then you will have to visit the branch and submit a request for it.
Now let’s talk about the ATM card.
The ATM card you receive will have a daily withdrawal limit of ₹40,000.
Another thing: if you go to an SBI ATM machine
and withdraw cash using your SBI ATM card, then five transactions per month are free.
Even if you withdraw cash from another bank’s ATM, five transactions are still free.
However, if the ATM is located in a metro city like Delhi or Mumbai,
then with your SBI ATM card, five withdrawals per month from SBI ATMs are free.
But if you use your SBI ATM card at another bank’s ATM,
then only three transactions per month are free.
After these free transactions, a charge of ₹21 per transaction applies.
The money kept in the savings account earns about 2.5% interest.
If you make a fixed deposit (FD) for one year, the interest rate is about 6.25%,
and if you make an FD for two years, the interest rate is about 6.45%.
So far, I have explained all the main features.
Now let me quickly show you the process of

6. how we can open a zero-balance savings account in SBI from home.

Just a small request: if you have found this session informative so far,
please like the video and subscribe to the channel.
Now let’s look at the process.
To open an SBI zero-balance savings account,
first you need to install the YONO SBI – Banking & Lifestyle application.
One more thing: SBI has two applications.
One is YONO SBI, and the other one is SBI YONO Lite.
Do not install the SBI YONO Lite app, because you cannot open an account from there.
Your account will be opened only through the
YONO SBI – Banking & Lifestyle application.
After installing the application, when you open it,
it will ask for some basic permissions, so click Allow.
After that, you will see an interface like this.
At the bottom of the screen, you need to click on the “Open Savings Account” option.
After clicking this option, it will ask how you want to open the account:
Without branch visit, or With branch visit
Since we want to open the account from home,
we will select the first option: Without Branch Visit.
As soon as you select this option,
the next page will show the Insta Plus Savings Account.
As I already told you,
the account that can be opened from home is called the Insta Plus Savings Account,
so we will select this account.
After that, below you will see a checkbox saying “I want to open a salary account.”
It is asking whether you want to open this account as a salary account.
If you want your salary to be credited into this account, then select this checkbox.
If you want to open a normal savings account and not a salary account right now,
then do not select this option.
Simply click on the Submit option below.
Then you will see an interface where it says “Start a New Application.”
Click on this option because we are starting a new application.

7. Next, it will show some information about Video KYC.

You don’t need to do anything here—
just select the checkbox below and click Next at the bottom.
Then it will show the process “At a glance.”
Again, you don’t need to do anything here; simply click Next at the bottom.
On the next page, it will ask you to enter your mobile number and email ID.
Make sure you enter the mobile number that is linked with your Aadhaar card,
because an OTP will be sent to that number.
Enter your mobile number, and if you have an email ID, enter that as well.
If you don’t have one, you can leave it blank because it is optional.

8. Since I have an email ID, I will enter both the mobile number and the email ID.

After that, click on the Submit option below.
Then you will receive an OTP on your mobile number for verification,
and another OTP on your email ID for verification.
Enter both OTPs—the one sent to your mobile number and the one sent to your email.
On the next page, it will ask you to create your application password.
It will say “Please create your application password”
and below it “Re-enter application password.”
Set any password you like.
This password is basically useful if, for example, you exit the process midway.
Suppose you have completed four or five steps
and suddenly the network goes off or you accidentally exit the app.
When you return and log in again at the same place using this password,
it will take you back to the step where you had exited earlier.
So you can set any password, but make sure the password includes capital letters,
small letters, numbers, and special characters.

9. For example, suppose my name is vijay—this is just an example.

You could set a password like A (capital) followed by nkit in small letters,
then add a special character such as @ or !, and then some numbers like 2512.
This way your password includes alphabets, capital letters, small letters,
numbers, and special characters.
After that, select any security question and enter its answer.
The purpose of this is simply that if you exit the process midway,
you can log in again and continue from where you left off.
That’s the only purpose of it.
Then click on the Next option at the bottom.
On the next page, a declaration page will appear.
Select the checkbox and simply click Next.
After that, the next page will ask for personal details.
You need to scroll down, select the checkbox at the bottom, and click Next.

10. Then the next page will ask for your Aadhaar number.

At the top, you will see “Enter Aadhaar Number.”
Here you need to enter your Aadhaar card number.
After entering the Aadhaar number, click on the Get OTP option below.
An OTP will be sent to the mobile number
linked with your Aadhaar card for verification.
Enter that OTP and click Submit.
On the next page, it will display your Aadhaar details.
It will show your title—for example, the account I am opening is for a female,
so the title shows Mrs.
Then it will display the first name and last name, gender (female), and date of birth.
If everything is correct, simply click Next.
On the next page, it will show the address from your Aadhaar card,
including the PIN code.
Then you will select your state and district, depending on the city where you live.
After that, select the checkbox at the bottom and click Next.
On the following page, it will ask you to enter your PAN card number.
So enter the PAN number exactly as it appears on your PAN card,
and then click Next at the bottom.
On the next page, it will display the photo from your Aadhaar card.
You don’t need to do anything here—simply click Next at the bottom.

11. Then the next page will ask for some additional details,

such as your educational qualification.
The first option is Below SSC.
This means that if you have studied below the 10th class, you should select Below SSC.
SSC stands for Secondary School Certificate.
So if you do not even have a secondary school certificate,
you should choose this option.
The next option is SSC / HSC.
HSC stands for Higher School Certificate.
If you have studied up to 10th, 11th, or 12th grade, you should select this option.
The next option is Graduate—
for example, if you have completed a B.Com, B.Tech, or any other graduation degree.
After that comes Postgraduate, such as MBA or other postgraduate degrees,
and then Professional.
So you simply need to select the option that matches your level of education.
Next, it asks for your marital status.
The person for whom I am applying is married, so I will select Married here.
After that, it asks for some additional details, such as Place of Birth.
Here you need to select the city where you were born.
Then it asks for the Maiden Name.
A maiden name refers to the surname a woman had before marriage.
However, this sometimes creates confusion.
In the Maiden Name field, you can simply enter the same name again.
This field generally appears for females only; males do not have a maiden name.
Next, you need to enter the Father’s Name.
Select Mr., then enter the first name and last name.
The middle name can be left blank if you want.
Enter the first name and last name.
Similarly, you will need to enter the Mother’s Name as well.
After entering the mother’s name, select the checkbox at the bottom and click Next.
Then it will ask for your occupation.
If you are doing a job, select Service.
If you have your own business, select Business, otherwise, you can choose Others.
After that, it asks for your annual income, meaning how much money you earn in a year.
Enter that amount.
Next, it asks for your religion.
Select whichever applies to you—Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian, or any other.
Then it asks for your category—General, SC, ST, or OBC.
Select the one that applies to you.
Next comes the Nominee section.
A nominee is the person who will receive the money in the account
if something happens to the account holder or if the account holder is no longer alive.
In such a case, the bank will transfer the money to the nominee
without any complications.
You can choose anyone as your nominee.
First, enter the nominee’s name.
Then select the relationship with the nominee—for example son, daughter,
spouse (wife or husband), parents, or even a friend.
After that, enter the nominee’s date of birth.
Next is the Guardian section.
If the nominee is a minor, then you must also provide the guardian’s name.
For example, suppose I want to make my four-year-old daughter the nominee.
Since she is a minor, her guardian would be my wife.
In that case, I would enter my wife’s name as the guardian.

12. So if the nominee is a minor, entering the guardian’s name is mandatory.

After that, you need to select the branch.
Click on the Branch Name option and search for your branch.
Since the system has already fetched your Aadhaar address,
you can search for a nearby branch.
For example, if the Railway Road branch is near your area,
you can type Railway Road, and it will show all the branches in your city.
From there, select the branch you want to make your home branch.
Your account will be opened in that branch.
After selecting the branch, click Next at the bottom.
Then an OTP will be sent to your mobile phone for verification.
Enter that OTP.
Finally, it will ask what name you want printed on your debit card.
Enter the name you want to appear on the card and click Next.
On the next page, a token number will be generated.
I have blurred it here.
You don’t need to do anything on this page.
Simply scroll down, select the checkbox, and click on the Next option.
After that, it will show the Video KYC process.
You just need to click on Next.
On the following page, it will show the option “Start a Video Call.”
Click on this option.
You will need to grant the required permissions, so click on Allow Permission.
After that, a video call will start.
An SBI representative—
usually from a third-party verification team—will appear on the call.
You will need to show your original PAN card to them,
sign in front of them, and they will capture your photograph.
Once this process is completed, within about a week,
the welcome kit will be delivered to your home.
The welcome kit will not include a passbook or a cheque book.
As I mentioned earlier, you can apply for a cheque book through the YONO application.
If you want a passbook, you will need to visit the branch and request it.
However, nowadays very few people actually use passbooks,
because if you need your account statement, it is usually sent directly to your email.
And even if you need it later, you can easily get it from the branch—
it’s not a big challenge.
So this was the simple process.
I have one small request: if you found this session informative,
if you learned something new,
or if you were able to open your account successfully,
